What Oasis Places Should Be Like
Oasis is not just beautiful real estate and not just a settlement in a pleasant location. The main value of the project is to create places where the environment itself helps a person live more calmly, healthily, freely and consciously.
That is why not only the homes matter, but everything around them: nature, scale, silence, distances, architecture, internet, access to infrastructure, privacy, shared spaces, rules, management, attitude toward the land and the atmosphere of the place.
A good Oasis should feel not like a random set of houses, but like a carefully designed environment where different elements support one another.
Nature Nearby
One of the basic criteria of Oasis is closeness to nature.
It may be the sea, mountains, forest, hills, a lake, a garden, tropical greenery, fields or simply a beautiful natural landscape. The place does not have to be wild or completely removed from civilization. But it is important that nature is not a decorative picture somewhere on the horizon, but something that truly affects the quality of life.
A person should be able to walk, see greenery, breathe cleaner air, hear not only roads and machinery but also the natural sounds of the place. Nature gives the body and mind what is often missing in the city: space, rhythm, recovery and the feeling of a living environment.
At the same time, closeness to nature should not mean destroying it. Oasis should not be a project that comes to a beautiful place and spoils it for the sake of beautiful views. Careful treatment of land, water, plants, animals and the local landscape should be part of the concept.
Human Scale
Oasis should preserve a small, human scale.
It should not be a huge residential complex, mass resort or dense development where a person again finds themselves in noise, crowding and a flow of people. Even if a specific Oasis consists not of three houses, but of several dozen units, it is important that the place does not lose the feeling of calm, space and personal room.
Human scale is not only the number of houses. It is distances, building height, path width, size of shared spaces, density of people, viewpoints, sounds, light, privacy of terraces and windows, and the feeling that the place can be understood and felt, not only used.
Better smaller, but better quality. Less randomness, less noise, less visual chaos. More attention to how a person will live every day.
Architecture and Aesthetics
Oasis architecture does not have to be identical in every country. On the contrary, different places should take into account climate, materials, culture, landscape, construction costs, local rules and real possibilities.
But architecture should share a general principle: simplicity, beauty, functionality and respect for the place.
Homes should not argue with nature. They should be beautiful enough to please the eye and practical enough to live in comfortably. Luxury for the sake of luxury is not necessary. What matters more is the quality of proportions, light, air, materials, layouts, views, terraces and transitions between indoor and outdoor space.
Aesthetics matter not as decoration, but as part of quality of life. When an environment is beautiful and calm, it is easier for a person to recover, focus, think and feel that they are in a place that supports them.
Privacy
Privacy should be built into Oasis from the beginning, not added later through fences and prohibitions.
This means thoughtful placement of houses, windows, entrances, paths, terraces and shared zones. A person should not constantly feel that they are visible to everyone. They should have space where they can rest, work, be with family, host guests or be alone without the feeling of being observed.
Privacy is especially important because Oasis should not impose social life. Communication can be part of the place, but only by choice. Therefore personal space should be just as full a part of the project as a coworking space, cafe, garden or any other shared zone.
Quality Housing
Housing in Oasis should not be a temporary box and not just a beautiful picture for rental. It should be suitable for normal life.
This means convenient layouts, good lighting, ventilation, protection from heat or cold, quality furniture, a workplace, storage, a normal kitchen or clear access to food, a good bathroom, a comfortable bed, silence, safety and a feeling of home.
For some, it may be a separate house. For others, a small unit. For others, a villa, apartment or hybrid format. What matters is not the name, but the quality of life inside.
If a person comes not for one night, but for weeks or months, details become important. Where to work? Where to store things? Can one cook? Is it good to sleep? Is there silence? Is it too hot during the day? Too damp at night? Is there a place to be alone?
Oasis should answer these questions not with words, but through the structure of the environment.
Internet and the Ability to Work
For many future residents and guests of Oasis, work is not separate from life. That is why reliable internet and comfortable working conditions are an essential part of the project.
This does not mean that the whole Oasis should become a coworking space. But a person should understand that they can hold a video call, send files, work calmly for several hours, not depend on random Wi-Fi and not search every day for a place with a normal connection.
Ideally, there should be different options: a workspace at home, a quiet zone, a shared coworking space, a meeting room, the possibility to hold a small meeting or workshop. But all of this should be integrated naturally, without turning the place into an office center.
Oasis should make work possible, but not force people to live in constant work mode.
Basic Infrastructure and Accessibility
Oasis should not be beautiful isolation that looks good only in photos.
Even if the place is close to nature, people need basic things: shops, healthcare, transport, services, safety, the ability to order groceries, call a doctor, reach an airport, solve everyday issues, get help with repairs, organize cleaning or maintenance.
Different Oasis locations may have different degrees of autonomy. Somewhere, part of the infrastructure will be inside. Somewhere, it will be nearby in the closest town or village. Somewhere, it will work through partners and services. But this should be thought through in advance.
It is especially important not to romanticize complete remoteness. Solitude can be wonderful, but if it turns into everyday helplessness, the project quickly loses quality.
Shared Spaces
Shared spaces in Oasis can be an important part of the environment, but they should not become a mandatory social program.
They may include a coworking space, cafe, garden, pool, workshop, practice hall, children's zone, meeting place, shared kitchen, library, small event space or walking routes.
The main thing is that they are useful, beautiful and appropriate. Shared spaces should expand a person's possibilities: to work, meet, communicate, host a class, rest, exercise, or meet neighbors if they want to.
But if a person has come for silence and privacy, they should not feel that these spaces require participation. Good shared zones exist as a possibility, not an obligation.
Careful Treatment of the Place
Oasis should respect the place where it appears.
This concerns not only nature, but also the local community, culture, economy, water, land, waste, energy, transport, visual impact and long-term consequences.
The project should not come into a country or region as an outside consumer that only wants a beautiful view and profitable land. It is important to understand how Oasis affects the surrounding territory: whether it creates jobs, respects local rules, avoids displacing people, avoids damaging the natural environment and avoids creating conflicts.
Care is not a slogan, but a practical criterion. It should influence location selection, design, construction, management and development.
Rules and Management
Even the most beautiful place can quickly lose its atmosphere if there are no clear rules and proper management.
Oasis should have clear principles: how silence is preserved, how shared zones are used, how guests are received, how everyday issues are solved, how cleanliness is maintained, how events, rental, animals, children, safety, repairs, transport and relationships with the local environment are regulated.
But rules should serve quality of life, not control for its own sake. Their task is to protect atmosphere, privacy, safety and respect between people.
Management also matters. Who is responsible for services? Who solves problems? How is the territory maintained? How are decisions about development made? How are the interests of residents, guests, owners, investors and local partners taken into account?
Without this, Oasis risks remaining a beautiful idea without a sustainable reality.
Different Places, Different Accents
Because Oasis is conceived as a network, not all places should be the same.
One Oasis may be more about solitude and recovery. Another about work and an entrepreneurial environment. A third about family life. A fourth about temporary living and gentle adaptation in a new country. A fifth about a creative residence or retreat.
But with different accents, basic qualities should remain: nature, aesthetics, privacy, human scale, infrastructure, respect for the place and freedom of choice.
This is what will allow Oasis to be a network of different places, not a set of random objects under one name.
The Main Point
Oasis places should be physical spaces where a person can truly live, rest, work, recover and create well.
They are not just real estate and not just beautiful locations. They are a combination of nature, architecture, privacy, infrastructure, housing quality, shared spaces, rules, management and careful treatment of the place.
If all these elements work together, Oasis can become an environment that does not impose a ready-made model of life on a person, but gives them more freedom: to be alone or near people, to work or rest, to come for a while or stay longer, to participate in the project or simply live in a calm and beautiful place.
